2-Day Match Performance Skills – Conroe, TX
July 20 @ 8:30 am – July 21 @ 5:30 pm
This 2-day course covers both the “hard” and “soft” skills necessary for consistent success at practical shooting matches including mental management, stage planning, and match strategy, with lots of practice at shooting and breaking down stages together with direct, personalized feedback for each participant. Class size is limited to 12 people to ensure quality time is spent with individual students.
Day 1 of the course will start by shooting a practical shooting stage right out of the gate to establish a performance baseline. We will then work on “hard skills” that apply to shooting a stage including:
- Transitions
- Throttle Control
- Movement
- Positioning
- Position Entries and Exits
- Shooting on the Move
Portions of the example stage will be broken down and shot with emphasis on the above skills. We will end Day 1 with a final run again through the same stage we started with to measure and compare to our first run through the stage.
Day 2 will focus more on the “soft skills” of mental game, strategy and stage planning. How we squeeze out all of our potential while still turning in consistent match scores and even when conditions are less than ideal. We will go over my 5-step process for breaking down, analyzing, and putting together efficient stage plans for any given stage that will ensure you never forget or run past another target again.
We will also spend some time discussing match strategy that plays to our own individual strengths and minimizes personal weaknesses. We will even go over the importance of pre-match preparation and pre-stage warmups and make ready routines.
Students will spend the day shooting stage variations to gain practice in learning and applying the stage planning and mental game concepts to start building the routine they will take into their future match performance.
